About the Film

In the commentary for this home movie, Elias Savada tells the story of his family’s 1958 Halloween night.

Morton Savada (1923-2008) was a New York City businessman who ran his family’s apparel manufacturing company from the 1950s through the 1970s. His lifelong passion for record collecting led him to open Records Revisited, at 34 West 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan, where he amassed a collection of over 200,000 78-r.p.m. records, spanning a wide range of musical genres and dating from 1895 to the 1950s. Following his death, his massive collection and business papers were donated to the Belfer Sound Archive at Syracuse University.

Elias Savada of Bethesda, Maryland, is the founder of the Motion Picture Information Service, which provides copyright research for film and television producers. He is a film historian and critic, and his reviews appear regularly at Film Threat. He is also the co-author of the 1995 book Dark Carnival: The Secret World of Tod Browning, Hollywood’s Master of the Macabre.
