DESCRIPTION:Archivio Aperto is a film festival organised by Home Movies — Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia of Bologna dedicated to the rediscovery  of private\, diaristic\, family\, experimental\,  amateur audiovisual heritage and to  the contemporary reuse of unpublished  and unofficial film archives. The 15th edition of Archivio Aperto (20-24oct)  opens the first Italian competition\n dedicated to contemporary international found footage works\,  Bring the Archive into the World. In the year in which the centenary of the birth of amateur formats is being celebrated all over the world\, Archivio Aperto organized some special events\, starting from the Home Movie Day (15oct) and the World premiere of the film 9 1/2 – 100 years\, 6 continents\, 22 film archives/collections (https://www.archivioaperto.it/evento/9-1-2-home-movie-day/)\, a montage film featuring 9.5mm amateur films from around the globe. DESCRIPTION:Mr. Akio Hata (1935.05.05-2021.01.28)\nA graduate of Nihon University College of Art\, Mr. Hata started his professional career at Kinema Junpo Editorial Department\, Association of Educational Film Producers (predecessor of Japan Association of Audiovisual Producers). And the Film Library of The National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo (predecessor of the National Film Center).\nAfter working as a freelance writer\, he joined the National Film Center of the National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo\, and the Film Preservation Society.\nAt the Film Library\, he engaged in the repatriation project which has had returned thousands of flammable Japanese films confiscated by the United States during the occupation.\nDuring his freelance writing career\, he traveled around Europe\, made many short documentary films about the railroads. and edited monthly journal Steam Locomotive.\nHe is the author of many books\, which include The Movie Began on the Train\, German Steam Locomotives\, as well as the editor of Encyclopedia of American Cinema of the 20th Century.\nWe are planning a memorial screening for Mr. Akio Hata\, whose achievements have greatly contributed to film communities in Japan.

DESCRIPTION:The first edition of the festival PODUL DE FIER (partner festival of Analog Mania) will be finished by a film screening of the movie 9 1/2 dedicated to the 9.5mm cinefilm format\, which was launched in 1922 in France by the Pathé company\, and which marks the beginning of the home cinema and amateur film culture. The screening is happening at the legendary at the Traian Grozavescu Theatre in Lugos \n—- \n9 1/2 \n100 years\n6 continents\n22 film archives and collections \nA montage film featuring 9.5mm amateur films from around the globe. \nIn 1922\, thanks to the Pathé company\, 9.5mm film was born in France. It was the first film format designed for home-made cinema. The movies therefore began to come out of the theatrical space and enter directly into the homes of spectators\, transforming them into operators\, directors and experimenters. DESCRIPTION:Home Movie Day is an opportunity to share your home movie memories\, and learn how to digitize and preserve them for generations to come. We welcome and treasure your stories! \nIn celebration of Home Movie Day\, The Onyx Downtown at the Nevada Theatre\, the Nevada City Film Festival\, and a group of professional film archivists will host a free local community event on Sunday\, November 13 at the historic Nevada Theatre. Activities begin at 10am with a workshop on the preservation and care of classic film formats including 8mm and 16mm\, followed by a screening of films submitted by the community at 4pm. \nShow your reel self! Folks interested in having their movies screened can drop off their Super 8mm\, Regular 8mm\, 16mm\, DVDs\, or files (sorry no VHS this year) in advance to the Nevada City Film Festival Headquarters at 110 Union Street\, Nevada City on Tuesday and Thursday\, November 1 and 3\, 9am-5pm or The Onyx Theatre\, 107 Argall Way\, Nevada City during business hours\, before end of November 4. DESCRIPTION:Home Movie Day is an international annual celebration of all things 8mm\, Super 8\, and 16mm (https://www.centerforhomemovies.org/hmd/). Our events in Palm Springs coincide with Modernism Week\, in part\, because this audience understands and appreciates the concept of preservation and is interested in our shared cultural heritage. \nWe invite you to go digging and bring your own home movies (found\, borrowed\, purloined) for inspection and projection ON ORIGINAL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. Trained volunteers will handle your films and give pointers on how to keep them\, where to transfer them\, etc. Films will be handled and shown on a first-come-first-served basis and we ENCOURAGE audience participation (film guardians are free to narrate to the best of their ability and the audience will help identify places\, cars\, buildings\, and/or years). This is a family-friendly event and you don’t need to bring films to have fun! Play Home Movie Day Bingo for valuable-ish and locally-donated prizes.
