The lives that revolve around home movies are not only those of the people who film and are filmed. We propose for HMD a trip through time and space\, in the Ferrania film factory. \nFantasmi a Ferrania\, Diego Scarponi – doc\, Italy 2021\nOnline free on MyMovies platform from 16th October 6PM (Rome time code) to 27th of October. Italian\, English subtitles. \nThe story of a mythical\, world-famous factory in a remote valley in Italy\, Ferrania\, its inhabitants\, workers\, managers and film lovers\, who were often the employees themselves. DESCRIPTION:Home Movie Day is an international annual celebration of all things 8mm\, Super 8\, and 16mm (https://www.centerforhomemovies.org/hmd/).  Our events in Palm Springs coincide with Modernism Week\, in part\, because this audience understands and appreciates the concept of preservation and is interested in our shared cultural heritage. \nWe invite you to go digging and bring your own home movies (found\, borrowed\, purloined) for inspection and projection ON ORIGINAL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. Trained volunteers will handle your films and give pointers on how to keep them\, where to transfer them\, etc.  Films will be handled and shown on a first-come-first-served basis and we ENCOURAGE audience participation (film guardians are free to narrate to the best of their ability and the audience will help identify places\, cars\, buildings\, and/or years).  This is a family-friendly event and you don’t need to bring films to have fun!  Play Home Movie Day Bingo for valuable-ish and locally-donated prizes. DESCRIPTION:The Opelika Public Library will be hosting (so far as we know) Alabama’s first Home Movie Day on Saturday\, Oct. 8\, 2022\, presented by the Opelika Auburn Film Arts (OAFAC). \nFrom 9-11:30\, OAFAC’s technicians will teach those who bring films the proper methods of keeping and maintaining films. We will clean the films and do what we can to make these archives playable. We will also offer resources for transferring films to a more accessible and less delicate form. \nAfter a lunch break -12:30 – Dr. Andrea Kelley\, Associate Professor in Media Studies at Auburn University\, will offer a brief introduction to the event. \nAfter that we’ll show as many films as we can before 5:00. Depending on the community response\, we may have to limit time so everyone can get a glimpse of their films. \nOAFAC is choosing to focus on reel-to-reel films for our first go at this event. DESCRIPTION:Since 2020 the Cinemateca de Bogotá has been carrying out activities framed in this celebration\, and this 2022 we want to extend a special invitation to citizens in general who have in their personal archives\, family or amateur memories in audiovisual format (especially 8mm\, super8\, 16mm\, Betamax and VHS)\, which account for family memories\, historical scenes\, travels\, home or amateur creations\, among other records that are owned by them or belong to their family. SUMMARY:Home Movie Day Bern 2022 - 9.5mm the first 100 years
DESCRIPTION:In 1922\, the Pathé company in France launched the 9.5mm substandard film system and with it the first successful home cinema. Just one year later\, the substandard film system was supplemented with a 9.5 mm film camera and the corresponding raw film material. This made filming more affordable for private individuals in the early 1920s. For the 100th anniversary\, we are dedicating Home Movie Day to this special format. But of course you can also come to us with any other film format. We will be happy to advise you on storing\, handling and securing your amateur and family films. We will round off the Home Movie Day with a 9.5mm amateur film programme\, supplemented with films brought in by the audience.

DESCRIPTION:This is our 4th year of Home Movie Day events at Artists Television Access (ATA) in San Francisco’s Mission District. We will be live projecting 8mm\, Super 8\, 9.5mm and 16mm films from a mix of curated footage presented by our group of volunteers and community submissions. \nThis year we are excited to work with local electronic musician\, Matt Robidoux who will accompany a selection of 8mm\, Super 8 and 9.5mm films – our first time having live musical accompaniment! \nCommunity members wishing to have their film projected are strongly encouraged to set up a drop off at Movette Film Transfer by October 14th where we can do a much more thorough job preparing the film for projection. We are able to process VHS and miniDV tapes along with 16mm and 8mm films. If you have media in other formats\, especially Super8 and DV\, you are welcome to bring them to the event to be evaluated. We will provide resources on how to care for your home movies\, where to have them transferred\, and provide information about how to become donors to our RGV home movie collection. DESCRIPTION:Mr. Akio Hata (1935.05.05-2021.01.28)\nA graduate of Nihon University College of Art\, Mr. Hata started his professional career at Kinema Junpo Editorial Department\, Association of Educational Film Producers (predecessor of Japan Association of Audiovisual Producers). And the Film Library of The National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo (predecessor of the National Film Center).\nAfter working as a freelance writer\, he joined the National Film Center of the National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo\, and the Film Preservation Society.\nAt the Film Library\, he engaged in the repatriation project which has had returned thousands of flammable Japanese films confiscated by the United States during the occupation.\nDuring his freelance writing career\, he traveled around Europe\, made many short documentary films about the railroads. and edited monthly journal Steam Locomotive.\nHe is the author of many books\, which include The Movie Began on the Train\, German Steam Locomotives\, as well as the editor of Encyclopedia of American Cinema of the 20th Century.\nWe are planning a memorial screening for Mr. Akio Hata\, whose achievements have greatly contributed to film communities in Japan.
