DESCRIPTION:Home Movie Day is an international annual celebration of all things 8mm\, Super 8\, and 16mm (https://www.centerforhomemovies.org/hmd/). Our events in Palm Springs coincide with Modernism Week\, in part\, because this audience understands and appreciates the concept of preservation and is interested in our shared cultural heritage. \nWe invite you to go digging and bring your own home movies (found\, borrowed\, purloined) for inspection and projection ON ORIGINAL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. Trained volunteers will handle your films and give pointers on how to keep them\, where to transfer them\, etc. Films will be handled and shown on a first-come-first-served basis and we ENCOURAGE audience participation (film guardians are free to narrate to the best of their ability and the audience will help identify places\, cars\, buildings\, and/or years). This is a family-friendly event and you don’t need to bring films to have fun! Play Home Movie Day Bingo for valuable-ish and locally-donated prizes. We welcome and treasure your stories! \nIn celebration of Home Movie Day\, The Onyx Downtown at the Nevada Theatre\, the Nevada City Film Festival\, and a group of professional film archivists will host a free local community event on Sunday\, November 13 at the historic Nevada Theatre. Activities begin at 10am with a workshop on the preservation and care of classic film formats including 8mm and 16mm\, followed by a screening of films submitted by the community at 4pm. \nShow your reel self! Folks interested in having their movies screened can drop off their Super 8mm\, Regular 8mm\, 16mm\, DVDs\, or files (sorry no VHS this year) in advance to the Nevada City Film Festival Headquarters at 110 Union Street\, Nevada City on Tuesday and Thursday\, November 1 and 3\, 9am-5pm or The Onyx Theatre\, 107 Argall Way\, Nevada City during business hours\, before end of November 4. DESCRIPTION:The first edition of the festival PODUL DE FIER (partner festival of Analog Mania) will be finished by a film screening of the movie 9 1/2 dedicated to the 9.5mm cinefilm format\, which was launched in 1922 in France by the Pathé company\, and which marks the beginning of the home cinema and amateur film culture. The screening is happening at the legendary at the Traian Grozavescu Theatre in Lugos \n—- \n9 1/2 \n100 years\n6 continents\n22 film archives and collections \nA montage film featuring 9.5mm amateur films from around the globe. \nIn 1922\, thanks to the Pathé company\, 9.5mm film was born in France. It was the first film format designed for home-made cinema. The movies therefore began to come out of the theatrical space and enter directly into the homes of spectators\, transforming them into operators\, directors and experimenters. And the Film Library of The National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo (predecessor of the National Film Center).\nAfter working as a freelance writer\, he joined the National Film Center of the National Museum of Modern Art\, Tokyo\, and the Film Preservation Society.\nAt the Film Library\, he engaged in the repatriation project which has had returned thousands of flammable Japanese films confiscated by the United States during the occupation.\nDuring his freelance writing career\, he traveled around Europe\, made many short documentary films about the railroads. and edited monthly journal Steam Locomotive.\nHe is the author of many books\, which include The Movie Began on the Train\, German Steam Locomotives\, as well as the editor of Encyclopedia of American Cinema of the 20th Century.\nWe are planning a memorial screening for Mr. Akio Hata\, whose achievements have greatly contributed to film communities in Japan.

We will provide resources on how to care for your home movies\, where to have them transferred\, and provide information about how to become donors to our RGV home movie collection. Donors retain ownership of their media and exhibition/access details are discussed on a case-by-case basis. \nIn 2021\, we launched Boca Chica\, Corazón Grande\, a community archival project focused on collecting and documenting the history and geography of Boca Chica Beach. We will be live projecting 8mm\, Super 8\, 9.5mm and 16mm films from a mix of curated footage presented by our group of volunteers and community submissions. \nThis year we are excited to work with local electronic musician\, Matt Robidoux who will accompany a selection of 8mm\, Super 8 and 9.5mm films – our first time having live musical accompaniment! \nCommunity members wishing to have their film projected are strongly encouraged to set up a drop off at Movette Film Transfer by October 14th where we can do a much more thorough job preparing the film for projection. SUMMARY:Home Movie Day Bern 2022 - 9.5mm the first 100 years
DESCRIPTION:In 1922\, the Pathé company in France launched the 9.5mm substandard film system and with it the first successful home cinema. Just one year later\, the substandard film system was supplemented with a 9.5 mm film camera and the corresponding raw film material. This made filming more affordable for private individuals in the early 1920s. For the 100th anniversary\, we are dedicating Home Movie Day to this special format. But of course you can also come to us with any other film format. We will be happy to advise you on storing\, handling and securing your amateur and family films. We will round off the Home Movie Day with a 9.5mm amateur film programme\, supplemented with films brought in by the audience.

DESCRIPTION:Since 2020 the Cinemateca de Bogotá has been carrying out activities framed in this celebration\, and this 2022 we want to extend a special invitation to citizens in general who have in their personal archives\, family or amateur memories in audiovisual format (especially 8mm\, super8\, 16mm\, Betamax and VHS)\, which account for family memories\, historical scenes\, travels\, home or amateur creations\, among other records that are owned by them or belong to their family. DESCRIPTION:DATE: Saturday\, October 8\, 2022\nTIME: 11 AM to 3 PM\nWHERE: Chicago History Museum\, 1601 N Clark St \nOnce again\, Chicago Film Archives and the Chicago Film Society join forces to present CHICAGO HOME MOVIE DAY at the Chicago History Museum. \nHome movies provide invaluable records of our families and our communities: they document vanished storefronts\, questionable fashions\, adorable pets\, long-departed loved ones\, and neighborhoods-in-transition. Many Chicagoans still possess these old reels\, passed down from generation to generation\, but lack the projection equipment to view them properly and safely. That’s where Home Movie Day comes in: you bring the films (16mm\, 8mm and/or Super 8mm)\, and we inspect them\, project them\, and offer tips on storage\, preservation\, and digitization – all free of charge. \nChicago Home Movie Day is dedicated to YOUR home movies. From 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM\, archivists and projectionists will inspect and project any celluloid home movies that walk in the door.
