New ways of connecting was the overarching theme for Home Movie Day 2020, bringing people together in virtual space to celebrate amateur films and filmmaking. We’re continuing to host online events in 2021, while also looking forward to the return of in-person gatherings. You can browse events from the map or list below (use the map-pin icon to customize your view) and click for details and links to film screenings, workshops, and interactive community events happening throughout the year. Most events are online, so you can drop in on a Home Movie Day anywhere in the world. Una compilación de material audiovisual realizado por los participantes durante el tiempo de confinamiento hecho desde las diferente miradas de la cotidianidad en casa y las calles vacías que dejó este acontecimiento. El orden y la narrativa de esta película serán decisiones tomadas desde un algoritmo aleatorio desarrollado en javascript y Processing por lo que cada reproducción que se realice será diferente.

El Taller de memoria casera audiovisual de la Cinemateca de Bogotá, es una actividad articulada a la celebración de Día del Cine Casero -Home Movie Day- buscando contribuir al rescate de un patrimonio cultural que usualmente es abandonado, con la premisa de ayudar a la gente a aprender más sobre sus películas caseras y cómo preservarlas, principalmente es una actividad para conectar a las personas con las historias de sus familias y su propio pasado.

Sesión 1- Memoria casera en soporte fílmico y magnético: preliminares y recursos para preservación
Sesión 2- Memoria casera en celulares y tabletas: prevención y cuidado de nuestra memoria digital reciente.

Este taller es desarrollado en conjunto con el Programa de Preservación y Archivo de Imágenes en Movimiento de la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU-MIAP) y los talleristas han sido participantes del Programa de Preservación Audiovisual APEX en América Latina.



Showcase workshop – Archives from Confinement: October 17, 2020 at 5:00PM

A compilation of audiovisual material made by the participants during the time of confinement made from the different views of everyday life at home and the empty streets left by this event. The order and narrative of this film will be decisions made from a random algorithm developed in javascript and Processing so that each reproduction will be different.

Dialogues between the family archives of Ricardo Restrepo Hernández, Manfred Hirsch and Henry Jaramillo.

How are the personal archives of three different families connected? What are these common points? Why preserve family memory and what relevance does it have in the present and future?


Workshop on audio-visual homemade memory: October 30, 2020 at 4:00pm | October 31, 2020 at 11:00am

The Audiovisual Homemade Memory Workshop of the Cinemateca of Bogotá, is an activity articulated to the celebration of Home Movie Day, seeking to contribute to the rescue of a cultural heritage that is usually abandoned, with the premise of helping people learn more about their home movies and how to preserve them, mainly is an activity to connect people with the stories of their families and their own past.

Session 1- Home movies and magnetic memory: Preliminaries and resources for preservation
Session 2- Home memory in cell phones and tablets: prevention and care of our recent digital memory.

This workshop is developed in conjunction with New York University’s Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program (NYU-MIAP) and the workshop participants have been participants of the APEX Audiovisual Preservation Exchange in Latin America.
