Synopsis:
Documentary about the closing of a streetcar line in Nagoya, Japan, including interviews with the line's regular riders.

Historical Background:
I was filming tram lines in lots of different places. This Seto Line in Nagoya, is one of them. When the new subway opened in the city, this line--following the moat of Nagoya's historic castle--was closed down, and I shot the last days. When I was interviewing the local people, I asked my friends to work the camera. People said they thought the line was a bit out of date and it caused them trouble when they were crossing, but at the end of the day they got nostalgic because once they lose it, it can never come back. When I found an article about Home Movie Day Nagoya in the evening paper, I decided to bring my film and redo the musical effects for it. My house is in Mie Prefecture, which is quite away from Nagoya, but I was happy to show my film there.
